Today’s main objective was to improve control lines around all nine fire perimeters and to eliminate all smokes and hot spots within the fires. Reports back from the field indicate that firefighters completed the line improvements and made significant progress extinguishing interior heat.
Firefighters are expected to remain on scene until late this evening, and then return first thing in the morning to check the fires. Douglas Forest Protective Association will continue to check the fires over the next week to make sure the fires are completely out.
DFPA would like to thank the multiple fire departments, law enforcement agencies, Douglas County, and ODOT who all helped with this incident.
